What actually makes a full-capacity pack empty too soon?

Voltage sag, not a second name for a low capacity reading. Voltage sag is the pack voltage falling when the notebook draws current. A 19 June 2024 IEEE paper already puts an early-discharge voltage sag on a rapid rise in internal impedances. Impedance, in that paper, is how hard the stack is to push current through — the same family as internal resistance. Impedance can move the cut-off even when a capacity claim is still on the label.

A 13 March 2024 English parts page, updated 30 October 2025, already says voltage sag under load indicates internal resistance, and that a degraded pack can hit a battery-management cut-off earlier than a pure capacity calculation. Battery-management here is the pack’s own electronics deciding the pack is empty.

If the confirmation — the order sheet — only names milliamp-hours, internal resistance is still unread.

Why is internal resistance a separate row from rated capacity?

Capacity is stored energy on a discharge that the meter was set up to finish, often at a gentler load than the notebook will draw. Internal resistance is the voltage-sag row under the notebook’s real draw. Two fields. A high-resistance cell can still print a full rating on a gentle capacity test and still trip the notebook early on the desk. Filing that pack as “rated full, so runtime is settled” trains the shop to skip the quieter row until the return is already booked.

Write internal resistance on the confirmation the same way capacity is written. A trial of two pieces still needs that field. A regular five-piece lot still needs it. Mixed models do not waive it.
