IEC 62133-2 verifies the safety of portable lithium cells and packs under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. It sets a safety boundary. It does not verify how long the battery lasts.
A repair-shop or OEM buyer ranking notebook batteries by whether a 62133 PDF is in the carton is not asking which file looks official. A safety paper and a runtime paper answer different questions. They are not interchangeable. What follows names what IEC 62133 actually covers. It does not invent a cycle-life percentage, a crush force in kilonewtons, or a pass-rate.
It leaves service life unread.
A cell is the single lithium unit. A pack is the assembly made from cells, with protection and a connector, that goes into the notebook. Runtime is how long that pack delivers usable energy in the host. Service life is how that energy holds up over charge cycles. IEC 62133-2 does not cover those two questions.
The IEC webstore category for IEC 62133-2:2017 is Safety. The abstract, read 6 September 2026 at webstore.iec.ch/en/publication/32662, states that the standard specifies requirements and tests for the safe operation of portable sealed secondary lithium cells and batteries containing non-acid electrolyte, under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. Intended use is normal charging and discharging inside the design limits. Reasonably foreseeable misuse is the abuse a pack can meet in the field — a shorted terminal, an overcharge, a drop, a crush — without treating that abuse as a performance score. Ranking a battery by a 62133 file without naming that split is still a miss.
It names lithium portable cells and packs, not nickel, and not a notebook as an end product. The 2017 edition split the old combined IEC 62133:2012: nickel systems went to Part 1; lithium went to Part 2. The title is Safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells, and for batteries made from them, for use in portable applications — Part 2: Lithium systems. UL 62133-2, on the UL Standards shop page read 6 September 2026, repeats that safe-operation abstract and adds that the standard is not, by itself, generally suitable for evaluating the safety of end-products. A 62133 paper on the cell or pack is not a substitute for the host-device safety evaluation. Naming the IEC publication number is not a price. Do not copy a clause list as if it were a quote.
They mean the electrical and mechanical abuse that answers whether the sample stays inside a safety envelope. Intertek's IEC 62133 page, intertek.com/batteries/iec-62133, read 6 September 2026, lists overcharging, over-discharging, short-circuiting, and thermal runaway as hazards the safety tests address, and writes electrical, mechanical, and chemical safety. Those names are the public test families. They are not a kilonewton table. No public source found on the IEC 62133-2:2017 webstore abstract for a crush-force figure or a timed-drop height that belongs on a commercial confirmation. Do not invent that figure. A short-circuit test asks what happens if the terminals are bridged. An overcharge test asks what happens if charge limits are exceeded. A drop test asks what happens in a free fall. A crush test asks what happens under mechanical pinch. Passing those families sets a safety boundary. It does not write remaining capacity after a year.
Intertek notes that the European Union adopted IEC 62133-2 1st edition in March 2021 for new portable lithium-ion batteries. That is a market-access date for that edition. It is not a runtime claim. IEC 61960-3:2017 does. Its stated objective is to give purchasers a set of criteria with which they can judge the performance of cells and batteries offered by various manufacturers.
That is the runtime-and-comparison paper. Capacity, designation, and the performance criteria a buyer uses to compare makers live there. IEC 62133-2 cites performance standards as references in places; citing them does not turn 62133 into 61960. No public source found on the IEC 61960-3:2017 abstract for a cycle-life percentage or a capacity-retention figure that belongs on this confirmation. Do not invent 80% or a 500-cycle line.
A seller who only repeats "IEC 62133 certified" has not written the 61960 line. A seller who only quotes a milliamp-hour figure has not written the 62133 line.
They sit on top of it. They do not replace it. Industry matching on notebook batteries still uses voltage, capacity, power, charge and discharge behaviour, internal resistance, protection, interface, load capability, and PD protocol — Power Delivery, the USB charging handshake. That list is a general check frame, not a named house method. A 62133 SKU — stock-keeping unit, one sellable revision — still has to fill those cells. The safety paper does not fill capacity. The capacity cell does not fill short-circuit and crush.

Battery and adapter warranty is 12 months. CE-series EMC, RoHS, and LVD papers on sold categories are held by the associated company Shenzhen Glory Energytech Co., Ltd. (深圳市荣焕科技有限公司). That is a different paper from IEC 62133. Do not write those CE numbers as a MILDTRANS-held 62133 mark.

Mixed models start at five pieces, or two for a trial. Ordinary outbound time is 7–15 days. Same-day is not the standing policy. Money moves as T/T — telegraphic transfer — through HSBC. A letter of credit is refused. Brazil is not on operated DDP.
A two-piece trial can start a battery SKU that names the 62133 safety cell and the matching cells, not a carton that only repeats "certified". A bulk invoice that only attaches a 62133 PDF is not a substitute for voltage, capacity, and PD.
They are not the same kind of paper. The table below is the check before the first bulk T/T. If a seller will only quote IEC 62133 as if it were runtime, leave that column unused.
