Today's morning meeting cherished the memory of and learned from Prof. Yang Zhenning's deeds and contributions. As one of the greatest physicists in the 20th century, he won the Nobel Prize for the "parity non-conservation" theory and founded the Yang-Mills gauge field theory, laying the foundation of modern physics with remarkable academic achievements. More admirable is his patriotic feelings: he became the first renowned Chinese scholar to visit New China in 1971 to build a communication bridge, returned to China in his later years to engage in science and education, established Tsinghua University High Energy Physics Research Center, and cultivated a large number of top talents, practicing the belief of "one should be grateful to the motherland in one's life" with his whole life.
Prof. Yang's scientific spirit and patriotic heart are spiritual wealth across the times. He taught us that we should not only climb the academic peak with rigorous truth-seeking, but also take responsibility for the country. This spirit will inspire us to pursue excellence and contribute in our respective positions.
