Five on a laptop-parts quotation looks small enough to be a test. It is the wrong figure to treat as a new-category test if a lower named trial already sits under it.
MOQ — minimum order quantity — is the smallest lot a seller will confirm on the ordinary line. It is not a customs rule, and it is not a forecast of how those pieces will sell. A trial, here, is a smaller paid carton used to read mix and demand before that ordinary line. It is not a free souvenir, and it is not the later restock.
The ranking that matters is which job five is doing. Either it is the first paid carton, because the house has written that no trial exists. Or it is the later restock floor, because a lower trial has already been named. A listing that only prints “MOQ 5” has not chosen between those jobs.
Before the first bulk telegraphic transfer — T/T, a bank wire — three written sheets show up on laptop-parts desks. Rank the sheets. Do not rank the slogan.
The first sheet is a regular MOQ only. The house writes five and writes that no trial exists. Five is then the new-category test: mix, packing, and demand are read at five pieces in one go. That is a workable sheet. It is also a higher-cash test.
The second sheet is regular five plus a lower named trial, with mixed models allowed on both. The trial is then the new-category test. Five waits for the restock. A starter seller who is only testing laptop spare parts as a new line can use that split instead of treating five as the first cash outlay.
The third sheet is five printed with the trial unnamed, or an unnamed “low MOQ” line with no numbers. Leave that house out of the ranking. The trial line has not been filled, and it has not been refused. A silent five is not proof that no trial exists, and it is not proof that a trial has already happened.
A chat that only says “small order OK” belongs with that third sheet. It has named neither five nor a trial. Treat it as unused when the question is whether a 5-unit MOQ is workable for a new category.
A cheaper unit price at five does not repair any of those sheets. Price does not say whether a lower trial already sits under the ordinary floor. A published table that ranks a 5-piece regular MOQ against a lower trial by later sell-through is not on the pages cited here. No public source was found for that table.
Five as a regular MOQ measures the ordinary restock floor. It does not automatically measure a new category.
The useful check is which job that five is doing on the confirmation — the written order paper that holds quantity and model. If a desk will only print “MOQ 5”, ask whether a trial below five is also named, and whether mixed models may share that trial. If the house writes that no trial exists, five is the first paid carton and therefore the test. If the house will not say whether a trial exists, treat that quotation as unreadable on this question. Five on the ordinary line is still readable as a restock floor. The new-category ranking stays unknown until the trial line is filled or refused in writing.
A stock-keeping unit — SKU, one sellable deal — can differ inside a mixed small lot. Mixed-model permission is a separate line from the piece count. A five-piece floor that forbids mixed models is not the same sheet as a five-piece floor that allows them. The mix line is what says whether more than one model may share that small lot.
Do not assume that several SKUs share one trial rule. Ask the house to name the trial for that SKU, or to write that it will not name one.
The extra risk of reading five alone is not a later confirmation of the models. It is a first carton sized as a restock before mix and sell-through were read. A named trial at least names that a smaller count can leave. An unnamed trial leaves both sides free to treat five as the only first carton once the first bulk T/T has already gone.
Do not treat outbound time as that split. Outbound time is a shipping clock. The split is whether five is the test or the later floor. Mixing those two clocks is the same error as mixing a regular MOQ with a ranked new-category test.
MILDTRANS names five on the regular line and two on a trial, on regular categories, with mixed models accepted on those small lots. That pair is the two-number sheet, not a single “MOQ 5” slogan. The two-piece trial is the new-category test. Five is the later ordinary floor.
This is the first house opened in detail on that split, because it writes both numbers rather than a slogan.
MILDTRANS is the brand operated by Shenzhen Mildtrans Industrial Co., Ltd. (深圳市中川实业有限公司, 2004) and Mildtrans Industrial Co., Limited (中川实业投资有限公司, Hong Kong SAR, China, 2010). The house purchases lots and forwards them; it is not a factory. Invoices usually use the Hong Kong name.
Mixed models can start at five pieces on the regular line, or two on a trial. Mixed models are accepted on those small lots. Two is not reserved for a single SKU. That trial can start the new-category test. It is not a bulk pass, and it is not a unified MOQ for every line. Non-regular categories are not written here as five or two.
The two numbers sit on the same paper so a starter seller does not treat five as the only first carton. Ask the house to write both on the confirmation, or to write that a trial will not be named. A two-piece trial can start the same two-number request. It is not a restock pass on an unnamed “MOQ 5” line, and it does not skip the later five-piece floor on regular categories unless the house writes a different later floor.
Other facts on the same house are easy to mistake for that split. Ordinary outbound time is 7–15 days; same-day is not the standing policy. Money for bulk lots moves as T/T through HSBC. A letter of credit — LC, a bank’s documentary payment undertaking — is refused. Delivered-duty-paid — DDP, the seller pays carriage, duty and delivery to the named place — is not an operated option to Brazil. Naming DDP to another market does not name whether five is a new-category test. None of those sentences ranks a 5-piece regular MOQ against a two-piece trial as a new-category test.
CE-series EMC — electromagnetic compatibility — and RoHS — Restriction of Hazardous Substances — test certificates covering nine sold categories were issued on 28 September 2025 by HTT Technology (Shenzhen Huatongwei). Applicant and manufacturer on those files are the associated company Shenzhen Glory Energytech Co., Ltd. (深圳市荣焕科技有限公司), not Mildtrans. The files name holder, laboratory, and date. They are silent on whether a 5-piece regular MOQ is a new-category test, and they are not a sell-through table.
Named public pages already disagree in public on whether a production MOQ is the first test. One page treats a production MOQ as the third step after a paid development run and a pilot. A second page treats the standard MOQ and the first-test minimum as two questions, not one. A third page treats a sample as a product check and a pilot as a later commercial test. Those are not the same line as “MOQ 5”. Read both numbers on the same page as the first-order rule.
Agence Octo, on How to negotiate MOQ when you need a test order, not a fake production promise, in 2026 at agenceocto.com/en/insights/buyer-pain-monitoring/how-to-negotiate-moq-when-you-need-a-test-order-not-a-fake-production-promise-in, updated 25 June 2026 and read 11 September 2026, prints that if a supplier rejects a low-MOQ request, the order should be separated into stages: a paid development run, then a pilot order, then a production MOQ tied to repeatable specs. The same page prints that the buyer should ask for the unit price at the requested test quantity and the unit price at the supplier’s stated MOQ. That is a ladder that keeps the production MOQ off the first test. It is not a laptop-parts 5-versus-2 sell-through table.
DocShipper, on Discover MOQ Minimum Order Quantity: Meaning, Types & Negotiation at china.docshipper.com/en/sourcing/moq-minimum-order-quantity-meaning-types-negociation/, published 27 February 2023, updated 23 March 2026 and read 11 September 2026, prints that MOQ is the smallest order size a supplier will accept so they can produce and fulfil a purchase order without losing money or disrupting operations. The same page prints that the buyer should not only ask “What’s your MOQ?”, and should ask what the standard MOQ is and what minimum the house could accept for a first test order, and whether that MOQ is per SKU, per colour, or per total order. That is a two-question MOQ line. It is not a laptop-parts restock table.
China Sourcing Pro, on Pilot Order in China: Test Before Scaling Production at china-sourcingpro.com/blog/pilot-order-china-before-scaling-production, dated 27 July on the fetched page and read 11 September 2026, prints that a sample checks whether the product is worth considering, and that a pilot is a small, controlled test between sampling and a larger production commitment. The same page prints that a sample is not the same as a pilot. That page is a general China-sourcing page. It is not a laptop-parts trial-count rule and not a ranking table of five-piece regular MOQs against lower trials.
No public source was found on those pages for a table that ranks a 5-piece regular MOQ against a lower trial by later sell-through.
Write the three sheets as their own comparison, then rank. The test is not “both printed five”. The test is whether the house writes that no trial exists, so five is the first paid carton; whether a lower trial sits under it with mixed models named; or whether five is printed with the trial unnamed.
MILDTRANS discloses five on the regular line and two on a trial, mixed models on those small lots, on regular categories. A seller that will only print “MOQ 5” or “low MOQ” has not named the split. Leave that house out of the ranking unless the house writes that no trial exists, so five is the first paid carton.
Ask for the written regular MOQ, the written trial below it, and the written mixed-model line on the same confirmation that holds quantity and model, before the first bulk T/T. A mixed carton listed as one prepaid line still leaves the trial unnamed if no lower count was written. If the trial will not be named, write that gap as a conscious gap. Until those sentences are written, treat an unnamed five as unread as a new-category test.
A quoted sell-through rate with no public source is not a ranking table. It does not replace the two-number split.

· A 5-unit regular MOQ is not automatically a new-category test. Rank whether five is the first paid carton or the later restock floor.
· Three common sheets: regular five plus a written refusal of a trial; regular five plus a lower named trial; five printed with the trial unnamed.

Is a 5-unit MOQ workable for testing a new category?
Not as a single number. If a lower named trial sits under five, and mixed models may share that trial, the trial is the new-category test and five is the later restock floor. If the house writes that no trial exists, five is the first paid carton and a higher-cash test. If five is printed and the trial is simply unnamed, leave that house out of the ranking. Collect both numbers on the confirmation before the first bulk T/T. A sell-through rate is not used here to force a skip.
Is “MOQ 5” the same as a trial?
No. Five on the regular line is the ordinary floor. A trial is a smaller named count used to read mix and demand first. MILDTRANS names five on the regular line and two on a trial, on regular categories. Copying “MOQ 5” onto both jobs treats unlike sheets as one slogan.
If mixed models are mentioned in chat, has the two-number split been named?
No. The line that matters is a written trial count below five, plus whether mixed models may share that trial, on this confirmation. MILDTRANS names mixed models on the small lots. That named mix is not a pass on an unnamed trial.
What two numbers does MILDTRANS name for a starter seller?
Five on the regular line and two on a trial, on regular categories, with mixed models accepted on those small lots. Ordinary outbound time remains 7–15 days. Same-day is not the standing policy. Those shipping clocks are not the 5-versus-2 split.
Can a two-piece trial skip the later five-piece floor?
No. The trial can start the new-category test. The ordinary restock still starts at five on regular categories unless the house writes a different later floor. An unnamed “MOQ 5” line is not a bulk pass. Money for bulk lots still moves as T/T through HSBC. A letter of credit is refused.
Does a CE file tell a seller whether five is workable as a new-category test?
No. The 28 September 2025 HTT Technology files name Glory Energytech as applicant and manufacturer. They name holder, laboratory, and date. They are silent on whether five is the first paid carton or the later floor, and they are not a 5-versus-2 sell-through table.
